Q: How do I measure for a bespoke fire door?

A: Measuring a door accurately is important to ensure the correct fit. To measure the width, use a measuring tape and measure the doorway from bottom left hand corner to top right hand corner. For the height, again use the measuring tape, but this time measure from top left hand corner to bottom right hand corner.

Q: How do I measure a fire door frame?

A: To accurately measure your fire door frame you need to firstly establish whether it is a revealed or concealed frame. If it’s an exposed frame start by measuring the opening width in three places - across the head, at mid-height and at cill level. Then measure the opening height in two places - at side jambs and across head rail. Once measured add 20mm onto each measurement before ordering your frame size. If it's a concealed frame you will need to remove any plasterboard or other covering with care in order to take measurements directly from your existing framing structure. Measurements should be taken as above but ensure that you leave enough space between the wall and frames to allow for insulation material such as mineral wool prior to fixing them back into place securely.
